The clutch bell is an essential mechanical component of the CVT transmission in scooters equipped with GY6 125cc to 150cc engines, such as the Honda Ruckus GY6 and other scooters based on this engine. It serves as a bearing surface and motion capture system for the centrifugal clutch weights or discs, transmitting the centrifugal force from the internal components to the CVT belt, and then to the rear wheel via the torque converter.
The bell directly receives:
the clutch weights or friction discs,
the centrifugal movement induced by engine speed,
the forces transmitted via the CVT belt and the variator.
Replacement or repair of the clutch bell is necessary when it exhibits:
deformation or ovalization,
localized burning or wear,
slip marks or degraded contact surface,
excessive play on the secondary shaft.
